The Northmont Bolts boys volleyball team has opened the season with a 2-3 record, showing grit and growth under new Head Coaches Bridenbaugh and Trevino. While the record may not fully reflect it yet, the foundation being built is evident as the team continues to develop chemistry and confidence early in the season.

Northmont began the year with a tough match up against Edgewood, falling in straight sets (16-25, 15-25, 15-25). Despite the loss, the Bolts gained valuable experience against a strong opponent and began adjusting to the tempo and expectations of the season.

The Bolts responded in a big way in their next match, earning their first win on the road at Summit Country Day. Northmont battled through three tightly contested sets, coming out on top 25-23, 25-23, 25-22. The match showcased the team’s composure in close moments and their ability to finish sets under pressure.

Northmont then faced Alter, where they came up short in another three-set match (12-25, 16-25, 14-25). While the scoreline didn’t go their way, the Bolts continued to work on consistency and execution against a disciplined opponent.

One of the highlights of the early season came in a hard-fought road victory at Wayne. In a five-set thriller, Northmont showed resilience and determination to come away with the win (25-21, 21-25, 26-28, 25-18, 15-11). After dropping a tight third set, the Bolts responded with energy and focus, closing out the match in the fifth set behind strong team play and mental toughness.

The stretch concluded with a loss to Beavercreek (11-25, 13-25, 16-25), as the Bolts ran into another tough opponent. Despite the result, the team continues to take steps forward with each match.

Through five matches, Coach Bridenbaugh and Coach Trevino have emphasized growth, accountability, and a team-first mindset. The Bolts have already shown flashes of what they can become, particularly in high-pressure situations, and will look to build on those moments moving forward.

With the season still young, Northmont is focused on turning lessons into results. If the early progress is any indication, this is a team that will continue to improve and compete as the year goes on.

The Bolts are led by Wyatt Pfister, who has recorded 43 kills and 61 digs, showcasing his impact on both sides of the ball. Dylan Pastor has directed the offense with 87 assists while adding 14 digs defensively. Jacob Bushong has also been a key contributor, tallying 27 kills and 49 digs, providing consistency and versatility for Northmont.
