On a Saturday match up, the Lady Bolts faced the Versailles Tigers who are currently ranked 50th in the whole state of Ohio for volleyball.
This was a really good test for the Bolts who have been trying to find their groove for this season. The Lady Bolts started off the match with some serve receive errors and it allowed the Tigers to get on a quick run but Northmont responded quickly. The Lady Bolts were able to keep battling within the set but eventually lost, 19-25.
Coach Bridenbaugh made some switches that allowed the Bolts to start set two with a better response. During this set, the Bolts started to bring back the spark that they ended with last year and fought back and forth with the Tigers but small errors added up and gave the Tigers the set two win, 20-25.
In set three, the lineup changed again and it sparked the Bolts in the right direction as they took a dominant 8-2 lead from some service aces, and big swings from the senior leaders. The Bolts continued the pressure and held a 17-12 lead by forcing errors on the Versailles side and that eventually allowed the Bolts to win 25-18.
Set four the Bolts continued to battle and had the drive to win. When Versailles would go on a big run, the Bolts countered it with their own run of points to tie the game back up. When it came down to the wire, the Tigers and Bolts traded points back and forth until the Tigers scored on a roll shot to give them match point, 21-24. The Bolts had their backs against the wall but rattled off two points to make it 23-24. The last point of the match was a long rally. It came down to who would make an error first and that was the Bolts and Versailles took the match, 23-25. This was a true test for the Bolts and they responded strongly.
The Bolts were led by Senior, Jadyn Johnson and Senior, Jenna Hall. Jadyn Johnson had an outstanding night with 11 kills and no errors, along with an ace and 3 blocks. Jenna Hall also had a great night with 11 kills, 2 aces, and 5 digs. Brianna Abels had a great night with 27 assists, 9 digs, and 1 block. Maddie Hoff led the team with 10 digs.
