Northmont was one of eight teams to participate in the Richard Kidd Classic, a memorial event for the late Coach Kidd this past Sunday. As part of this event, the Bolts were paired up against Pickerington Central from east Columbus. This would be the third game for the Bolts in five days and Coach Spears knew it was going to be challenge going in.
"We've played one of the toughest opening week schedules of anyone. I knew it would be difficult. But it's so much for us to learn from this experience that we can take with us forward".
The game started competitive with a tied 1st quarter. But Pick Central would get hot, hitting eight 3's and pulled away into the 2nd half to win 72-49. While it certainly wasn't the end of a 3-game stretch anyone would want, Coach Spears communicated the importance of playing these tough games.
"Today was certainly a disappointment. But we just played 3 games where all 3 programs have state championship banners up. We are trying to build a program like those so we have to test ourselves."
Senior Chisom Ibe again led all scorers with 15 points for the Bolts.
All 3 teams return to action Tuesday, December 9th against Versailles.
