The Thunderbolts returned to Meadowbrook for a home dual match against Bethel, but despite a strong individual performance from Carson Auxier, Northmont came up just short in a 173–171 loss.

The match was a difficult one for the team. With the final score separated by just two strokes, there were plenty of moments throughout the round where a different decision or one better shot could have changed the outcome.

Carson Auxier earns Player of the Match honors after firing an outstanding 37 and earning Medalist honors.

Carson once again showed why he has been the team's most consistent scorer this season. On a day when the rest of the team struggled to find its rhythm, Carson played the type of steady, disciplined golf that Meadowbrook demands—especially on the challenging back nine.

Coach's Corner

Sometimes, you simply don't have your best stuff.

After the match, that was the message to the team. Every golfer is going to have days when things don't go their way, and that's okay. What matters is how we respond, what we learn from it, and what we do the next time we step onto the course.

For us, the biggest issue was tee shots.

The back nine at Meadowbrook is demanding and requires precise play off the tee. When we struggled to put the ball in good positions, it made course management extremely difficult and put us in situations where big numbers became much more likely.

As a team, we carded 15 double bogeys or worse on our home course. Even more costly, three of those big numbers came on the challenging 18th hole, where several of our individual matchups were ultimately decided.

When you lose by just two strokes, those numbers are difficult to ignore.

But this team is not going to dwell on this performance.

We congratulated Carson on earning medalist honors, talked about what we can learn from the round, and now it's time to move forward. We know we are capable of playing better golf, and the next opportunity is already ahead of us.

Looking Ahead: The FireBolt Cup

Next up, the Thunderbolts will take on Fairmont in the FireBolt Cup.

After a difficult showing against Bethel, this will be an opportunity to reset, compete, and respond. The team knows that we don't need everyone to have their absolute best round every time out—but we do need to find ways to manage the course, avoid the big numbers, and keep fighting when things aren't going our way.

The Bethel match is behind us.
