After a difficult outing against Beavercreek, the Thunderbolts had an opportunity to respond in their home opener against CJ—and they did just that.

Northmont came away with a hard-fought 165–174 victory over a tough CJ team, earning its first dual-match win of the season.

CJ is always a strong opponent, and the Thunderbolts knew they would need to come out ready to compete. The team did exactly that, putting together a solid performance and protecting home course.

Carson Auxier earns Player of the Match honors after firing a 38 and earning Co-Medalist honors.

Carson continues to establish himself as one of the Thunderbolts' most consistent scorers and a player the team can count on when it is time to compete. His strong round helped set the tone for Northmont and played a major role in securing the victory.

Coach's Corner

This was a good response.

After our performance at Beavercreek, we challenged ourselves to regroup, get back to the basics, and focus on the areas that had been holding us back. The team came out against a tough opponent and showed that we are capable of bouncing back.

That being said, there is still plenty of room for improvement.

As a team, we carded 12 double bogeys or worse during the match. Those big numbers continue to add unnecessary strokes to our scorecards and are something we need to eliminate if we want to consistently compete with the best teams on our schedule.

The encouraging part is that this is an area we can control.

We will continue to focus on course management, making smarter decisions, and putting ourselves in better positions to score. Sometimes playing better golf isn't about hitting a perfect shot—it is about making the decision that keeps a bad hole from becoming a really bad hole.

A win is always something to celebrate, especially against a quality opponent like CJ. But we also know that our best golf is still ahead of us.

This was a step in the right direction.
