Time to Respond

The Thunderbolts traveled to Beavercreek Golf Club for their first dual match of the season, taking on Beavercreek in a head-to-head competition.

Unfortunately, it was a difficult morning for Northmont, as the Thunderbolts fell 162–182.

Team Scores
Carson Auxier (Senior) – 41
Jonas Roberts (Senior) – 42
Wade Wallace (Sophomore) – 49
Eli Morgan (Senior) – 50
Alex Webb (Sophomore) – 51
Jack Luttrell (Junior) – 52

Player of the Match

Carson Auxier earns Player of the Match honors after leading the Thunderbolts with a 41.

Carson's round included two double bogeys that kept him from breaking 40, making his score even more encouraging. Despite the difficult team performance, Carson continued to compete and gave us another example of how quickly a round can change when we eliminate a few big mistakes.

Coach's Corner

There isn't a whole lot to say about this one—and sometimes that's okay.

We simply didn't play our best golf. Tee shots and putting continued to be areas of struggle, and those mistakes made it difficult for us to put together the type of team score we know we're capable of.

The good news is that we have a gap in our schedule this week, which gives us an opportunity to turn our attention toward the areas that need the most work.

Rather than dwell on this performance, we're going to use it as a learning experience. We'll spend time working on course management, tee shots, putting, and the other weak points that have shown up early in the season.

One of the most important lessons in golf is learning how to respond when things don't go your way. This team has shown throughout the season that it has the ability to compete. Now we have an opportunity to use this week to prepare, regroup, and come back stronger.

We're leaving this performance behind.

Looking Ahead: Home Opener

The Thunderbolts return home next Monday, August 17, for our home opener against CJ.

There's no better opportunity to bounce back than in front of our home crowd. We'll spend this week preparing, working on our weaknesses, and getting back to the fundamentals that have made us successful.

The goal is simple:

Learn from it. Work through it. Bounce back.

Go Bolts!
