The Thunderbolts continued their season at the Greenville Invitational at Turtle Creek Golf Course, finishing 9th out of 17 teams with a team score of 332.

While we would have liked to finish higher on the leaderboard, this tournament once again showed just how close this team is to competing near the top. Northmont finished only 7 shots behind 6th place, and the team left the course knowing there were plenty of opportunities to make up those seven strokes.

Player of the Match

Jonas Roberts earns Player of the Match honors after firing an impressive 76, finishing 6th overall in a field of 102 golfers.

After a few rounds where he was searching for his game, Jonas put together the type of performance we know he is capable of. His 76 was a great bounce-back round and an important step toward getting back on track.

Congratulations to Jonas on an outstanding individual performance!

Coach's Corner

This tournament was a great reminder that golf is often a game of inches—and missed opportunities.

We struggled throughout the round with attacking greens and putting, and we also gave away a few strokes by losing balls off the tee. Those mistakes added up and kept us from putting together the team score we know we're capable of shooting.

At the same time, there was a very encouraging takeaway: we missed a lot of putts that could have fallen. Had even a portion of those putts found the bottom of the cup, our team score could have been significantly lower.

The good news is that the team isn't discouraged. In fact, the players left this tournament understanding exactly what we need to work on. With focused practice, better course management, and continued improvement around the greens, this team knows it can compete with the best teams in the area.

Senior Leadership Takes Shape

One of the most encouraging parts of this season has been watching our senior leadership begin to take shape.

Carson Auxier, Eli Morgan, and Jonas Roberts are learning that leadership isn't just about shooting the lowest score. It's about setting the standard, responding to adversity, staying positive when things don't go your way, and helping the younger players understand what it means to compete for Northmont.

We've already seen each of them contribute in different ways, and as the season progresses, we're excited to see that leadership continue to grow.

Our next practices will focus on putting, attacking greens, and making smarter decisions around the course. We don't need to completely reinvent our game—we simply need to clean up the small mistakes that are currently keeping us from putting together our best rounds.

We're getting closer. The pieces are coming together, and now it's time to turn those opportunities into results.

Looking Ahead

The season continues, and the Thunderbolts will have another opportunity to put our work into action at our next competition.

The goal remains the same: play smart, stay patient, and eliminate the unnecessary strokes.

This team has shown that it has the talent to compete. Now we're working to put all the pieces together.
