History was made this week for the Northmont High School boys volleyball program as the Bolts earned their first-ever OHSAA tournament victory since boys volleyball became an officially sanctioned sport by the Ohio High School Athletic Association in 2023.

Northmont defeated Wayne High School in four sets in the opening round of tournament play, winning 29-27, 27-25, 23-25, and 25-19. The victory not only advanced the Bolts in postseason play, but also marked another milestone in what has already been a historic season for the program.

With the win, Northmont now sits at seven total victories on the season which is the most wins the program has recorded since the 2022 season. Throughout the year, the Bolts have continued to show growth, resilience, and determination against tough competition, and their progress was on full display in the tournament match up against Wayne.

The match was highly competitive from the opening serve, with Northmont battling through two intense extra-point set victories to take early control. After Wayne responded by taking the third set, the Bolts regrouped and closed out the match with a strong 25-19 fourth-set performance to secure the historic win.

This season has been a major step forward for the Northmont program. From improving their win total to earning a breakthrough postseason victory, the Bolts have continued to raise the standard and build momentum for the future of boys volleyball at Northmont.
