The varsity tennis team took the court in their season-opening match, with mixed results across singles and doubles competition.
Singles Action
Curtis Braswell and Austin Meagley both faced tough opponents in their varsity debuts, each falling 1-6, 1-6. Despite the challenging losses, both players gained valuable experience competing at the varsity level.
Tommy Jenkins delivered a standout performance in his match, securing a hard-fought victory 6-2, 4-6, 15-13 in an extended third-set tiebreak. Jenkins' resilience down the stretch showcased the competitive spirit of the team.
Doubles Results
The doubles pairs showed promise, with Alex Seibert and Nick Seibert earning an impressive 6-1, 6-3 victory in their first match together on varsity. The duo's strong play demonstrated solid chemistry from the start.
Michael Fletcher and Marquise Leary faced a difficult opponent in their varsity doubles debut, falling 3-6, 1-6.
For our JV players, David Mathis and Bentley Barrows competed in their first double match together. Although they lost 0-6, 1-6, Bentley played in his first high school tennis match and David gained valuable time on the court.
The next match is against Beavercreek HS in the GWOC season opener at Northmont Tennis Courts on April 7th. The match start at 4:00 pm.
