Ja'leia Mitchell and Katilyn Tanner made their second trip to the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament where they both placed again for this season.
Jal'leia Mitchell, wrestling at 105lbs, won her way to the semi-final round, but then lost and was placed in the consolation bracket and wrestled her way to winning 6th place! Ja'leia placed 6th last year as well. Ja'leia finished her sophomore season with a record of 41-9.
Katilyn Tanner, 115lbs, was a first round winner in the state tournament before losing and being put in the consolation bracket. Tanner continued to make her way through the tournament to place herself 8th! Tanner is a repeat placer as well, placing 8th last year. Tanner's season record for her junior year finishes at 43-11.
Mitchell and Tanner continue the winning tradition at the state tournament for the Northmont Girls Wrestling team. Since Girls Wrestling has been sanctioned, Northmont has placed at every state tournament.

The boys team had a state placer as well. Graham Moyer at 165lbs had a great tournament, placing 5th!
Your Northmont Girls Wrestling Team was nominated and won the Greater Miami Valley Wrestling Association (GMVWA) Mat Poll Champs, Team of the year Award! This award is voted on by other team coaches in the Miami Valley! This award is for the great season the girls team had, as they brought home multiple trophies this season for 1st and 2nd team placements in tournaments.
