Northmont sophomore Evie Barnes was the first Northmont gymnast in 13 years to compete in the Ohio High School Athletics Association Gymnastics State Competition on the balance beam on March 8th.

Barnes qualified for beam at the Southwest Districts finishing in 4th place. The top 6 gymnasts on each event qualify to compete at State.

She scored 7.725 on beam and finished 35th in the state. She had a fall from her cartwheel but she was able to shake that fall off, get back up and do it again connecting her roundoff.

She competed against the best gymnasts in the state and represented Northmont well. She already has plans to go back to State with new skills and to compete on more events.
