Northmont High School Swimming had an incredible showing at the Southwest Ohio Classic, the largest high school swim meet in the country. Preliminary events were held at the West Carrollton YMCA, where swimmers had to qualify to earn a spot in the prestigious finals held at St. Xavier High School.
Northmont was proudly represented in finals by Knox Reed and Abbie Weeks after standout performances in preliminaries. Team captain Abbie Weeks qualified for finals on both days of competition. On Saturday night at St. Xavier, Abbie competed in the 50 breaststroke finals, placing 6th overall with a time of 34.06. She followed that up with another outstanding performance on Sunday night, qualifying for finals in the 50 butterfly and placing 2nd overall with a personal-best time of 27.10.
Knox Reed also qualified for Sunday night finals, earning his spot in the 50 backstroke. Competing against the top swimmers in the field, Knox placed 10th overall with a personal-best time of 27.47.
Qualifying for finals at a meet of this caliber is a huge accomplishment. We are extremely proud of Knox and Abbie for their hard work, determination, and for representing Northmont so well on one of the biggest stages in high school swimming.
