The Northmont Girls Varsity Bowling team displayed incredible heart on the lanes today, pulling off a gritty come from behind victory against a talented Fairmont Firebirds (7-3) squad. In a match that came down to the final frames, the Thunderbolts secured a narrow 2029–2022 win.
The afternoon started as a steep uphill battle for the Bolts. Throughout the individual team games, Northmont found themselves trailing the Firebirds, struggling to close the pin gap. However, the energy shifted entirely as the match moved into the Baker sets.
With their backs against the wall, the girls delivered their strongest performance of the season when it mattered most. The Bolts exploded for a season-high Baker set, rolling a 213 and 187 to surge past Fairmont and clinch the victory in the closing moments of the match.
Leading the Charge
The win was fueled by a trio of powerhouse performances in the individual frames:
- Amiah Wright: Set the pace for the Bolts with high games of 201 and 192.
- Raina Hogstrom: Stayed remarkably consistent, turning in scores of 197 and 176.
- Sydney Williams: Provided crucial depth to the lineup with solid games of 168 and 179.
Coach’s Perspective
The team’s resilience didn’t go unnoticed by the coach Andrew Hall.
“We honestly couldn’t have had any better perseverance, the girls knew they were down and really fought to the end to come away with a win against a fantastic Fairmont team.”
Up Next
The Thunderbolts will look to carry this massive momentum into the next tournament. They are set to compete in the Sweet Sixteen Shootout Tournament this Saturday, January 17th, at Poelking Lanes South.
Go Bolts!
