Welcome athletes — it’s time to get ready for tennis season!
Important dates:
The first day of conditioning is March 2.
The first day of tennis activities is March 4.
The last day to join the team is March 5.
Uniform orders will be completed on March 6.
What to expect from conditioning:
Conditioning will focus on tennis-specific fitness including footwork, agility, quickness, court endurance, core strength, and injury prevention. Sessions will include dynamic warm-ups, ladder and drill work, interval conditioning, on-court movement drills, and cool-down/stretching. All fitness levels are welcome — workouts will be progressed and modified as needed.
What to expect from tennis activities:
Expect fun, competitive on-court sessions that build skills and teamwork. Drills will cover serving technique, groundstrokes, volleys, point play, and match strategy. Players will rotate through partner drills, live-ball rallies, and situational scrimmages to translate conditioning gains into game-ready performance. All levels of players are welcome.
Schedule & logistics:
Conditioning will meet Monday–Tuesday, 3:10–4:30 PM at the tennis courts. Tennis activities will begin Wednesday (March 4) from 3:10–5:00 PM at the tennis courts. If weather is poor, conditioning will meet at the Thunderdome gym track (meet by the athletic office); sessions will not be canceled. Bring tennis shoes (non-marking if indoors), water, athletic clothing, and a racket if you have one — if you don’t have a racket, still come and we’ll help. Please dress for the weather. Students and parents will be notified of any changes to conditioning or tennis activities through the athletic website and Final Forms (email). If you cannot attend a session but still want to join the team, notify Coach DeWine by email or the athletics office.
How to join:
Interested players must attend conditioning or tennis activities by March 5 to be added to the season roster. New players should register through Final Forms and complete the required physical before participating. After March 5 the final roster will be submitted to the athletic department, and athletic fees must be paid before March 27.
Health & safety:
If you have any existing injuries or medical concerns, please inform the coach before participating. An up to date physical is required to participate. Stay hydrated and follow coach guidance for safe progression.
