Tuesday night's GWOC showdown between Northmont and Miamisburg had plenty of ups-and-downs throughout the action. The Bolts entered Miamisburg High School with 6 straight wins, but have historically struggled in the Vikings' gym. The game started in the Bolts' favor getting as much as a 6-point lead early on. But Miamisburg countered thanks in part to their senior Chrys Ngoh.

"Early on in the game, (Ngoh) made them go even though he wasn't scoring all of their points", Coach Allen Spears said on the start of the game.

Ngoh and the Vikings cut the deficit down to 15-13 at the quarter break. The 2nd quarter wasn't much different as the Bolts would start to build the lead and Miamisburg would counter. Northmont went to the locker room up 30-26 at the half. Spears and his staff adjusted quickly to come out of the half.

"We put more emphasis on controlling (Ngoh) and working to minimize his touches", he stated.

The adjustment was assigned to junior Micah Jacobs. Jacobs has emerged as the best on-ball defender and focused his efforts on containing Ngoh.

It worked.

The Bolts extended the lead to as much as 11 points in the 3rd quarter. However, as the quarter ended Miamisburg again fought back. There was enough cushion however as the Bolts led 48-39 at the quarter break.

The final quarter is where the Bolts really pulled away. Upping the defensive pressure, the depth of Northmont was on full display as the Bolts would pressure, turn the ball over, and get transition points. Quickly the lead extended and Northmont would finalize a 70-50 victory.

Sophomores Ja'Kye Hoard and Kaleb Kelly led scoring with 15 points each in the win. It moves the Bolts to 7-3 overall and 5-1 in GWOC play.

JV won their 6th straight game with a 63-31 victory. 4 guys were in double figures scoring, led by Caleb Thompson with 13 points.

Freshman won 39-28 to earn their first GWOC win of the year. Cam Copeland led scoring with 11 points in the victory.

All 3 teams return to action this Friday against Wayne at the Thunderdome. Games times are 5pm, 6:15pm, and 7:30pm tipoffs.
