Coach Allen Spears knew Friday night could be a battle with GWOC foe Beavercreek coming to the Thunderdome. After surviving against Versailles last Tuesday, Spears had a focus on being prepared all week leading up.

“The message entering tonight was to worry about us. Be a better version of ourselves. Let’s play with all the fundamentals we worked on all summer”.

The Bolts responded. They picked up their 2nd straight win, and first GWOC victory, 66-41.

“We’ve been getting off to good starts, but the 2nd quarter is the difference…we were intentional and deliberate “

Northmont jumped out to a 21-9 lead including starting on a 9-0 run to begin the game. Turning defense into offense, the Bolts continued to focus defensively and take a 32-16 halftime lead. Much of this way due to the guard play.

“We are getting some guys that are getting confidence offensively…I’m excited to see some wings and guards starting to have some good nights offensively”.

Junior Bryson Thomas-Wiggins and sophomore Josiah Williams were specifically praised and contributed. The 2nd half was much of the same as the Bolts built on their lead and ultimately walked away with a 25-point victory.

Williams led all scorers with 15 points. Thomas-Wiggins was not far behind with 14 points.

JV picked up their first GWOC win 49-42 and move to 2-2 on the year. Caleb Thompson led scoring with 14 points, 10 coming in the 4th quarter.

Freshman fell 39-31 and nearly erased a 17-point halftime deficit. Marcus Lindsey and Cam Copeland each contributed 12 points each.

All 3 teams return to action Monday at Oakwood High School.
