The Boys Varsity Basketball Team dropped their season opener on the road against Archbishop Alter 57-48 on Tuesday night. Despite the loss, Coach Allen Spears walked away with plenty of optimism.
"Although this was a disappointing loss, I see things in our team that we will be able to build on. Going to Alter is never an easy place to go and get a win, in particular your first game of the season. But I wouldn't have it any other way".
The Bolts led for much of the 1st half, including a 1-point halftime lead. But Alter would go on a run in the 2nd half and lead by as much as 11. Northmont would fight back getting the deficit down to 4, but couldn't close the gap down the stretch. Sophomore Kaleb Kelly led scoring with 17 points.
The JV defeated Alter 53-36. Sophomore Josiah Williams led scoring with 15 points in the win.
The Freshman fell short 70-34. Cam Copeland led scoring with 10 points.
All 3 teams are back in action this Friday for the home opener against Centerville. Game times are 4:30, 6:00 and 7:30pm.
