On Saturday, October 25th, the Northmont Cross Country Boys and Girls teams competed at the Division 1 OHSAA Regional Champions on the Troy Levee. The boys team finished 12th while the girls team finished 13th.
This year top 7 teams qualify to the state in the boys race, and the Top 6 teams in the girls race. To qualify as an individual was a little different this year. Once they knew which teams qualified they took them out and begin counting the next 14 athletes in the boys race and 12 athletes in the girls race to determine individual qualifiers.
The Thunderbolts had four athletes advance individually to the OHSAA Cross Country State Meet. Dominic Lopez led the way for the boys team and finished 7th overall with a time of 15:46 and was the first qualifying individual. Grant Mergler finished 21st overall with a season best time of 16:12 and was the 4th individual qualifier.
On the girls side, Sadie Mergler led the Thunderbolts with a season best time of 19:14.2 finished 15th overall and was the 4th individual qualifier. Makenna Long finished 22nd overall in the race with a season best time of 19:30.6 and was the 6th individual qualifier.
Rounding out the remaining boys that competed, Owen Bush (16:53) , Jack Wendt (17:45) , Nick Diller (17:45) Adam Wallace (18:23) , and Chase Bishop (19:19)
Rounding out the remaining girls that competed, Jazlen Simpson (20:18), Addie Brown (21:18), Emma Martin (21:44) Braelyn Williams (22:35), Lily Atkinson (23:20)
The State meet will be run on November 1st at Obetz Fortress in Obetz, Ohio just south of Columbus the Girls will compete at 3:30pm and the Boys will compete at 4:10pm.
