Domination. That is what this squad displayed on a cold Monday evening. They showed poise throughout and were able to control the tempo of the game, with Stebbins only completing a handful of passes in the Thunderbolt’s half until late in the contest.

The Bolts players came hot out of the gate in the first half; Sophomore Ashlyn Bazile scored two goals to propel the team to an early lead. Chinaza Ibe and McKenna Myer each scored to increase the team’s lead to four. The team continued to create chances and exploit the opposition, scoring twice more in the half as Ashlyn Bazile rounded out her hat trick and Chinaza Ibe completed her brace. Putting the team up 6-0 at the break. A resounding message that kept confidence high for the Bolts going into the break.

In the second half, the players slowed down the pace of the game, focusing more on possession and moving the ball between the different zones. They continued to put together chances, but it was clear they had taken their foot off the gas and mixed some more players in with the starters to keep the squad prepared as a whole for the matches ahead. The game was closed out with goals from Junior Mashayla Mitchell and Senior Emma Poland, bringing the lead to eight and subsequently ending the game per the OHSAA tournament rules.

The Thunderbolts will now travel to Hamilton high school on Thursday October 23rd for the District Championship against St. Ursula.
