The Northmont girls tennis team showed resilience on Tuesday, rallying from early setbacks to secure a thrilling team victory over Sidney High School.

At first singles, Leah Bergjord fell 2-6, 1-6, while Madison Evans fought through a three-set battle to earn a 6-4, 3-6, 6-2 win at second singles. Samantha Cecil played a competitive match but came up short 5-7, 3-6 at third singles.

With the match hanging in the balance, Northmont’s doubles teams delivered under pressure. Bayla Bucciarelli and Sol Malanda dominated at first doubles, winning 6-0, 6-1. At second doubles, Eden Scott and Alysha Hopson outlasted their opponents in a three-set thriller, 7-6 (7-4), 3-6, 6-2, clinching the team victory.

The Thunderbolts fought back from the brink of defeat, showcasing grit and composure in a very competitive match.

Northmont Tennis takes on GWOC competition in Fairmont at Northmont tennis courts on September 9th starting at 4:30 pm.
