The Northmont girls tennis team secured another strong team win away against Stebbins, highlighted by hard-fought matches across the lineup.
At first singles, Leah Bergjord secured her first individual victory with a composed and determined performance, winning 6-2, 7-5. Madison Evan was locked in a back-and-forth battle before an injury forced her to retire after splitting sets, 6-4, 2-6, 0-1. At third singles, Samantha Cecil fought through long rallies but came up short in a 1-6, 3-6 match.
The Thunderbolts found their edge in doubles play, where both teams delivered victories. Bayla Bucciarelli and Sol Malanda powered through two tight sets for a 7-5, 7-5 win, while Eden Scott and Alysha Hopson closed out the match with a confident 6-2, 6-4 result.
Northmont’s strong doubles play sealed the team victory, and the effort, competitiveness, and resilience across the lineup showed the growth of this group.
The Thunderbolts return to action on Thursday, August 28th at home playing Carroll High School.
